I just installed a Cobalt Performance Automotive Skid Plate on Winston (MCS08). Got increased cabin noise, vibration which lead to interior harmonic's vibration from all over car (Arm rest, gauges etc). Has anyone tried any skid plate's on their MINI's or heard of this issue?
I uninstalled it this morning after all day yesterday on the Dragon. All issues are gone so I am thinking about "bushings" or "Rubber washers" between the contact points. Any idea's out there.

I would try rubber washers. Sounds like a good idea anyway. I have not any experience with it just sounds logical.

Right on! I removed the plate and saw where it was hitting one of the pans on the drivers side. I did a little self mod on the plate (bending it using a vise and added two washers to driver side bolts. Bingo! No vibration or noise. I found only one reference to this issue and the user had installed his plate backwards. Wish I had it like that on the Dragon yesterday. Everyone was COOKING.

Follow-Up: The skid plate failed to perform with rubber washers or grommets. I have been in contact with MOSS Mini and they build the Cobalt hardware. We narrowed it down to the following issue: Mini Cooper S 2008 Automatic The transmission pan makes contact with the plate thus causing bad vibrations. Temporary solution: Drimel Cut a line similar to the passenger side cut approximately 2 to 3 inches in from the connection bolts. The cut is about 8 to 10 inches long and free's up the plate so it drops down below the pan. I drove to Biltmore House over weekend and Cade Cove today with "0" problems. ;D
