Take a trip up to Mountain City to meet up with our host and fellow Mini owner, Wade, for some leaf peeping (hopefully colors will cooperate) and a run on the Snake.
Meet Wade at noon for lunch at Cooks Cafeteria in Mountain City (approximate 2 1/2 hour drive) After lunch Wade will lead us on a scenic drive with stops and photo ops in the area. Sounds like a great day of Mini driving. We can meet and caravan up.
Take I81 to Johnson City exit 57a (2 hours +/-) This is I 26 take exit 35B to Bristol Highway (15 min) You are on Rt 19W. Go thru Piney flats towards Bristol Take the exit to Elizabethton to 19E (15 min) Continue past the outskirts of Elizabethton on 19E Take a left in Hampton to 321 Sign will say mountain city ( 20 min) 321 is winding and scenic around Watauga lake Follow hwy 67 thru Butler to Mountain City. (35 min) At the first light on hwy 67 you intersect hwy 421 Take a right and go about two miles to you see the sign for the Empire hotel and Cooks Cafeteria on the left This is still on hwy 421 ( 3 minutes from light)

Rachel and I are down for a caravan. Sounds like the ride up there will be around 3 hours, so when and where would others like to meet?

I intend to go but work load after returning from Seattle will be the determining factor. If so, I will join up and caravan.

That was fun, even if the weather didn't completely cooperate. The leaves were great, and I would like another crack at the snake on dry roads.
