MOTD 2010 was mentioned at our last meeting at O'Charley's. I plan to make a day trip on Saturday May 1st. Anyone else planning to go for the day and want to caravan? ;D

I was planning on going over for Way's margarita party, but unless some big rocks get moved the detour makes that a bit long for an evening jaunt.

I will be going up on Friday morning to drive in the Dragon Parde, line up is at 8:00 to 9:30 at the Dam.
I also will go up on Saturday morning to be in the panoramic photo, must be in line up by 10:30. I will be driving there by 411 highway to Tellico and Cherohala skyway drive.

I have never driven the dragon yet. Coming form 411 (Chapman & Young High Pkwy). We were planning on going Martin Mills Pike to Gov Sevier Hwy to 129. Spoke too soon, thought Dragon rock slide was taken care of, but it's not. Re-route to 411 to Gatlinburg etc. Going to see which route that is posted on the MOTD website is faster. Got to be faster, Right? ;D

We may go up on May 1st. I think that the dragon is open from 8 A.M. to 8 P.M. now. My wife is a dragon virgin and is thinking about going with me. Pleae don't let there be any wrecks before then.

Lets hope your wife likes it better than mine. With the police that will be there it might be a better time to break her in on some slower runs. My wife had sore arms and naussea when we got done driving it one day. Now she won't go back with me

Sore arms?!?!?! You do know the best way to introduce your significant other to the Dragon is not by putting her on the roof and saying "see if you can hang on baby," right?

haha, or by chasing a group of heavily modded VWs. I think when I pulled over to let them by she saw the look in my eyes that I would have to keep up with them

I just wanted to bump this back up to remind everyone MOTD is this weekend. I haven't been able to decide if I can go yet or not, but I'm leaning towards no. So if we are still wanting to do a Saturday caravan over there, lets have some volunteers. Really all it will take is picking a meeting place and launch time and then following one of the alternate routes on the MOTD website. I think the route will depend on where everyone is comming from to meet. If you meet in N Knox the Gatlinburg route may be best, and if the meet is in W Knox the Tellico route may be best.

I'm taking a few hours from work on Friday and going over in the afternoon. I doubt I will go back on Saturday.

Definitely going tomorrow, leaving the north end by 1:30PM. Taking the interstate to Tellico, Cherohala, and short cut through Joyce Kilmer to 129.
I'll be joining the Atlanta gang for a pot luck at 6:30.
Anyone wishing to tag along, give me a call.

Might pass you by around Madville or Sweeth2o. We are planning the same drive but on Sat. whenever we decide to get up and go.

3 1/2 hours over.....via Cherohala.
3 hours back via Gatlinburg.
The Dragon has a really weird feel to it. Just people on it that want to be on it, as opposed to someone passing through it. And it certainly is not crowded.
